Taken from the pages of a 1968 catalogue it includes the prices in gns – what is or was a gns? A Guinea or gns was one English pound plus one shilling which at the time was 21 shillings. A shilling would be the equivalent today of 5 pence or .05 of a pound, so each gns is actually 1.05 pounds – a sly way of making the price slightly more than it seemed. I have owned, repaired or played nearly every model Höfner featured here so if you want any info or just a chat about great guitars email me at will@post.com |
